What we do in our factories

Our current profit-oriented business world exploits nature and people.
I believe that only corporations have the necessary power to create the changes needed for a new and exploitation-free society.
It is up to us, the companies, to start this process.

RADICAL CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

ONE THIRD OF PROFIT IS RE-INVESTED TO PROMOTE OUR EMPLOYEES' QUALITY OF LIFE
At GSN, we regard both business and social targets as equally important. Thus, we like to challenge the prevailing labour practices across China's electronics manufacturing industry by respecting the dignity and the social well-being of migrant workers instead of just exploiting them.

Employee engagement is at the core of our HR agenda and a key driver for our organizational development. Thanks to our innovative approach to employee relations our average employee return rate after the Chinese New Year festive season remains as high as 95%. The internal factory regulations of our CR Role Model Factory are fully complying or exceeding social compliance requirements and are being reviewed and audited by local authorities, NGOs and customers on an ongoing basis.

EQUAL OPPERTUNITIES

As a company we focus to improve the quality of life of all our employees by providing them with equal opportunities.

It is our concern to empower especially the rural migrant workers who help create our value chain through their hard working and often also by sacrificing their social well-being.

Rural migrant workers are mostly uneducated and prior to joining our company as manual assembly workers they have usually only received training in terms of learning-on-the-job.

In order to nurture their sense of achievement, we provide them with comprehensive skill training and the opportunity to rotate their jobs. Also during working hours we furthermore offer multimedia trainings on social compliance and business ethics, workshops on intercultural communication as well as a library to support personal development and growth.

Thanks to our co-operative leadership approach we are able to fill 50% of our management and leadership positions with young female talents.

WORK-LIFE-BALANCE

At GSN, we want to help shape a world in which justice and sustainable development are at the heart of value creation structures which are designed to allow everyone through acceptable labour to maintain a decent and dignified livelihood and to fully develop their human potential.

Thus, in 2018, GSN Shenzhen implemented a revised working hours and wage system in order to provide its assembly workers with a fair opportunity to earn a living wage while safeguarding a healthy work-life-balance.
