ONE THIRD OF PROFIT IS USED TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH WE OPERATE
In the past, GSN Shenzhen has made charitable contributions to organisations who take care of sick and underpriviledged children in Asia, Africa and America.
Putting this at priority, we have been focusing our community engagement on improving the quality of life of the so-called left-behind children of rural migrant workers in China. Currently, 61 million children are traumatised by loneliness, as they are being left behind by their parents in their underdeveloped villages and often have to grow up in social isolation. In order to address this social issue within the context of our company, we have set up the 'See Your Child Progam' in 2015.
Parents whose children are left behind are rewarded with additional 2x 1 week paid leave, providing them with enough time to visit their families as they may have to travel up to 1,000 km just to get to their hometown. The days of absence will neither be deducted from their general annual paid leave entitlement nor from the monthly pay. Moreover, we reimburse 50% of their individual travel expenses upon their timely return. The financial support helps our employees to respond to private incidents and unscheduled events on short notice more effectively, which allows them to resolve these issues and resume work more quickly.
In 2016, 67% of our employees were entitled to the GSN 'See Your Child Program' and used this opportunity to reunite with their children (and also with their parents) up to two more times per year.

We are addressing two key aspects with our ‘See Your Child Program’: On the one hand, we simply hope to heal the feeling of loneliness of both, the children and the parents, by helping them to reunite more often.
On the other hand, we would like to demonstrate that companies do have the power to reduce the suffering of the so called ‘left behind children’. It is our intention to expand the program to all our manufacturing facilities in Shenzhen as soon as possible.

AWARD FOR THE 'SEE YOUR CHILD PROGRAM'
In the special category Jury Selection, GSN competed with the 'See Your Child Program' and made it among the four finalists. The 'See Your Child Program' was established at our headquarters in Shenzhen in 2015 as part of our RCC (Radical Corporate Citizenship) strategy. This means that 1/3 of the company's profits are reinvested back into society.
A seemingly simple measure that brings enormous profit. From the economic point of view, one can cite the increased satisfaction and thus the increased motivation and loyalty of the employees. As a result, there is only little fluctuation at GSN and valuable know-how remains in the company. Above all, the social and emotional aspects count. Families - parents, children, grandparents and extended family – benefit in many ways, through the strengthened bond, emotional stability, as well as through satisfaction and security. Such values cannot be weighed up with numbers.

We are very proud to have found attention, for our project and as a medium-sized company, next to such great competitors and their projects.
